EP details

dystopia 2.0 is a mixture of industrial metal and synth pop that takes the band into new territory. The music combines industrial beats and synth melodies with heavy guitar riffs.

"When we started working on the EP I found myself writing it like a concept album or a musical with recurring musical themes and it's more or less just one long track cut up into three. I also found that they all had one thing incommon - they were all dealing with the feeling of being abandoned in different ways.

The title of the EP is inspired by how the 50's used to paint futuristic dystopia in literature and movies. Now we got the covid pandemic, climate change and threats of World War 3 while the world is slowly getting more wrapped up in tech, AI and self-driving vehicles. I wanted to use that title to document what my view of it all was in 2022 when all these things we're going on at once."

Bio

Ember Twin is a Swedish alternative band from Gävle that consists of William and Mikael. Two multi-instrumentalists that handle everything from writing to recording to production.

The band released their debut album, In Shapes, in 2018. An album that explored mixing more organic instruments like real drums and piano with synthetic elements like synths and vocoders. The single "God In The Radio" soon started to get played on local radio stations and got featured on Spotify playlists.

During 2018 they also released the energetic and synth-heavy EP “Nothing”. The first release where the band started getting more into blending punk with synth pop. They also made a music video for the single “I Can’t Turn You On”, which shows the band’s new direction and look. The video got nominated in Local Heroes category “Best Music Video” and the band played at the award show.

In 2020 the band found a new, more electronic, sound on their second album “Let Us In”. The album was the first release with their new bassist Malin and featured singles like “Fur”, an anthem against the fur industry, which debuted on the radio show Metal Meyhem in England and also their biggest single to date – “Don’t Be Yourself”.

During 2021 the band released several singles, one of them was “Beautiful Liar” which music video got nominated in Local Heroes category “Best Music Video”.

2022 is already planned with the upcoming EP “dystopia 2.0” that will be released March 25th.
